songkairui > This building looks very Tibetan. This area is just a couple mountain ranges away from Tibet and has a lot of Tibetan influence.

songkairui > My travel partner and classmate, Sandra. She'd been to this area twice before and pretty much served as my tour guide. It was great!

songkairui > In case it's not clear, this says "Summit of the 24 Bends." This is important because this celebrates the completion of the most difficult part of the trail, an area of 24 switchbacks. But if you ask me, there were plenty of "bends" before the actual "24" began... I think there should be a recount!!
songkairui > The view from one of our highest points. Since we were walking through a gorge, there was no "summit" to this hike. At times, this made it psychologically difficult because there was never a point of arrival, just continuous ups and downs. The other psychologically difficult part was the locals who followed you with mules, in hopes that you'd give up and hire one of them to take you the rest of the way. Sit down for a rest and there they were: "Want the mule now?" We didn't succumb!
